OTR and The Q

The weather last Saturday was so awesome we just had to get out, and Outside in the Q was celebrating their first anniversary.
Good enough excuse for me.
Hadn't been up there for awhile, its still nice to be pleasantly surprised at the number of people walking around and going in and out of shops.



Favorite convesation overheard on Main St,
"Lets start on the magnum first, its going to be a long day"
this was 12:30ish.

Hockey Town

Cincinnati isn't.
The Cyclones win a championship and make it to the playoffs this year and still can't get any love in this burg.
I can see it though, I didn't grow up with hockey and even though I enjoy it, its off the radar for something to do sports wise.

Mainstay Rock Bar

A very soft opening yesterday for Opening Day with just a few customers and a couple SoapBox District heavy hitters Chad and Josh.
They have some interesting ideas, which knowing those guys will be close spot on.

It was gone.

Reds Opening Day Parade 2009

Despite the weather the square was packed this morning for the parade. I only made it in the cold rain for a half hour or so then retreated for Macy's.


Not envying the people in the cheap seats one bit.

He was waving just to me.

Fountain Day

It's so awesome that there are people, who like me, latch onto any excuse to spend time on Fountain Square.
And why shouldn't we, the most awesome space in Cincinnati.
After a couple warm up bands and a few words from the mayor, the water was turned on and the lady in the Fountain came to life.
I have a gut feeling we're gonna have another incredible summer on the Square.

UPDATE: here is what happened, I pulled it out of my pocket, juggled it around for 4 or 5 steps before tossing it about 5' away onto the sidewalk. And obviously it hit in just the right spot.

Parker Flats Friday

Don't hate me because I live in the most awesome condo in southwest Ohio...
Oh OK then, go ahead, I don't blame you.
The first Chelada of the season, I forgot how good Landshark tastes, a touch of sweetness cut by the ice. Mmmmm
Sitting out on the deck with a beer and cigar I was amazed at the amount of joggers going by,I mean, I know there are a bunch downtown, but there was a veritable parade of runners going past that I never saw on 7th St.
Deriving sustenance from a steady supply of Big N' Tasty's, beer and cigars I applaud their tenacity to beat their bodies up running.

For all the hand wringing the duck squeezers do worrying about the state of recycling in the city, I can almost with certainty state that nothing of value from a dumpster in the city ends up in a landfill.
This one gets combed over at least ten times a week by 3 or 4 different people, it is comprehensively picked through before it heads off to its demise at the landfill.

Cincinnati Imports, another successful night of great conversation with people passionate about Cincinnati and what ever else they have going on.

freshhhhhness

I know, everyone in Cincinnati has been to Fresh Fare already, but I haven't.
I expected it to be nice but was really shocked when I got inside, the place was incredible.
So why can't they take this, scale it down 50%, halve the selection and plop it downtown?
I can't imagine that people wouldn't shop there.

They had samples every ten steps I swear.
This particular sales strategy might not go over good downtown for obvious reasons.
tasted awesome, way better than it looks.

I thought this was an inspirational touch, most of the shelves were curved, giving a larger and more dramatic display in a smaller space.
