Garage Brewed Motorcycle Show

Nothing can stir up a longing for warm weather like a custom motorcycle show. I haven't ridden a motorcycle in years but I still appreciate the freedom they bring. And nothing is cooler than the Garage Brewed Motorcycle Show at Rhinegeist brewery, now in its 4th year. I'm always amazed what these guys put together, there is something about sipping awesome brews and looking at incredible bikes that can't be matched.
In addition to the custom bikes, Garage Brewed has added an area in Rhinegeist's upstairs event space for original bikes. Old bikes you've probably never seen before, and maybe a not so old one, a bike like the ex-Nick Cage 1999 Ducati MH900e.
Save the date for the third Saturday in January 2019 and check the show out yourself.

Sleepy Bee downtown

The newest addition to downtowns breakfast scene, Sleepy Bee Cafe, had a soft opening over the weekend. Per their facebook account, "Sleepy Bee is dedicated to reimagining breakfast and lunch with a local, healthy, creative edge. Otherwise known as: the way it should be done." But really what I found coolest about the new spot was all the artwork they commissioned from local artists. With the artistry of the food standing up to the artistry of the bee portraits, it adds up to one delicious location.
Check out their food and the new location at 8 E 4th Street. Luckily for me, it's a short couple block walk from home, we checked it out yesterday on a foggy Sunday morning.

Cincinnati Women's March

The pussy-grabber claimed he would bring people together, well that is the only thing he has accomplished while in office. He has united women in art and protest as evidenced by the huge crowds marching all over the county to mark one year of his ineptitude and belligerence.
That fact is highlighted when the president trolls women but conveniently ignores the fact that women make 80% of men for doing the same work.
I still have a mother, sisters, nieces and a wife and I think they should have the same choices as men. Whether it be in occupation or more importantly making their own healthcare decisions.
I'm really tired of the GOP's war on my wife and women.

roast coffee and destroy!

Deeper Roots Coffee hosted an open house to show off their new roasting facility in Brighton. They had outgrown their Mt Healthy location and now they have elbow room and space to grow.
This is a working space so it isn't flashy but it is interesting to see what is involved in creating the coffee we all love. DRC is currently roasting two thousand pounds of coffee a week. Kind of funny they can literally tell people they are roasting a ton of coffee!

We live for this stuff!

Ice cold winter storms in January are made for nights in, lots of blankets and hot chocolate right?
Not if you're downtown or OTR. We live for those nights, the streets are empty and more importantly so are the restaurants we can never usually get into. All we had to do was walk a block, hop in the skywalks and then jump out next to a streetcar stop. I've heard people joke about the streetcar in the snow, but come on, humans have been using steels rail a lot longer than cars, you don't think they didn't figure this all out back in the 1800's? Right before the streetcar comes to a stop they drop sand on the rails so they have traction to stop and start back up again. But I digress, we jumped off at 12th and Vine and walked up to the Eagle, home of the best fried chicken in the world. The spoonbread tastes like sunshine so I never skip on the sides. Another bonus was there were only four people in Graeter's and no line! Unfortunately, I didn't leave enough room for dessert. Whats the grace period of their birthday ice cream?
Surprisingly Washington Park wasn't empty, it was full of dog walkers whose dogs seemed more excited about the snow than their humans did.
A lap around the park for snow pictures then we were back on a warm streetcar headed home.
