Dark & Stormy

On my never ending quest to make the perfect Dark & Stormy. the Gosling Ginger beer is good, but not quite as good as Natural Brew's outrageous Ginger Ale.
Next up, Chuck from Dilly Deli has been telling me about Fever Tree Ginger Beer.
The way Chuck describes it, "Real chunky bits of ginger, like horseradish, floating in the brew. Absolutely miles better than anything."
Can't wait to try that!

Parker Flats Friday: Indian Edition

A neighbor hosted an Indian immersion party that was a pretty good time. We could only bring Indian food and/or drinks and were supposed to wear Indian clothes. For me that meant jeans and a nice shirt, which is what the other Indian guys were wearing so I was golden. And thanks to the power of twitter it took me like 2 minutes to find Kingfisher Beer, imported from India.
horse de vours, spicey, spicier and spiciest.

Parker Flats

left to right; goat, chicken and lentels.
The first time I've eaten goat, I was making myself sick thinking about it, but once I tried it, it wasn't bad at all.
Parker Flats

The action was hot and the night stayed just warm enough to open the city door and huddle around the firepit.

Pulp Fiction

The Al & Al show rolled into Parker Flats last night with their Film This project and film #95 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies of all Time.
Tarantino's highly anticipated followup to Reservoir Dogs lived up to the incredinble hype that lead up to its opening. A product of its time, it still feels contemporary if you overlook the highwaisted jeans and Amanda Plummer's opening line in the diner robbery thats been heard so many times it seemed a cliche of itself.

Film This

Whats a viewing of Pulp Fiction without a Royale with cheese?

Mrs Mia Wallace, Uma Thurman's character who's name was inspired by Julie's kittie.

Film This

Having nothing to do really with Pulp Fiction but was super sweet anyhow, Allison is reviewing a new camera, the Nikon Coolpix s1000pj that has a cool new feature.
First it was our cell phone and now it looks like our cameras will become a Swiss Army Knife of everything.
The claim to fame of the Coolpix is instead of everyone crowding around to preview pictures on the small LCD, it projects the images in a slide show on a wall.
How cool is that?

Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope.

The f#@king short version of Pulp Fiction.
Spoiler alert, they say f#@k.

52breakfasts

It seems like 52breakfasts should have been into the meat of the schedule by now but looking at the calendar this is only Sunday #4. A warm rainy Sunday morning in contrast to the very cold dry Sunday a few weeks ago. Its a bitter pill to swallow, but we're going to have a couple more months of cold and snow aren't we?

Take The Cake
Take The Cake

Our merry band of deipnosophist had a dynamic makeup leading into Sunday seemingly changing every day and sometimes by the hour, which in the end turned into a small group with 5 of us decending on Take the Cake.
Something I wasn't sure about the first time I went but I now think the coolest idea ever and really appreciate about Take the Cake are the two long communal tables, allowing our group to swell as freinds began trickling in, they were able to sit with us, no way that could have been recreated with booths.
As for an incredible breakfast, you can't go wrong and no matter what you order you'll end up with high quality food combined in the most creative and flavorable ways.

Before I even begin to think about food though, the most important part of breakfast will always be coffee, to me during the week coffee is swill but on the weekends, coffee, glorius nectar of the gods coffee is taken to new realms and I become the coffee snob of doom.
But with Take the Cakes coffee locally roasted next door, there are no worries, "help yourself" James said, a challenge I did not take lightly!

So as far as this week goes: mission accomplished.
Now the bad news: someone has to do it all over again next week. We'll be out of town, but our streak of hitting the best breakfast spots is probably coming to an end, Debba informs us we're also going with her to the neighborhood of Fey Apartments and one or two other non-perfered places.
Its gonna get interesting peoples.

they laughed when I bought season tickets, who's laughing now?

The Little Kings and Queens have won their first game of the season last night. I could see it coming, last week they were hungrier than ever, the were the Brett Favre of broomball but came up short. This week they weren't going to be denied. With that monkey off their back, they're gonna sweep the rest of the season, I can feel it.
WHO'S #1?
No really who is that? I can't recognized her under the helmet.

SUSHI RAMPAGE

Ko-Sho in the Northside opened its doors a few weeks ago and I don't know who started it this week, maybe Jenny but by Wednesday we were all on the sushi rampage bandwagon, it was leaving the station, climb on board or get left behind.

The sushi looked AND tasted like works of art. I didn't know whether to take pictures of it, or eat it.
I did both. Did i meantion it was delishcious?

The eel? awesome, why was I afraid of it?
And the dragon roll? didn't taste anything like dragon as far as I'm concerned.
dragon tastes like chicken
NOT funny Ms. 5chw4r7z, not funny at all.

Verdict.
The sushi is crazy awesome.
The service, iffy, they forgot one of the orders, but they were all new.
The price, if you have to ask you can't afford it. But that said, man was it expensive.

who does that

the phone rings at 5:30am, a coworker is sick and a hardware upgrade needs done, can I do it?
Sure, no problem, I stagger around get dressed and drive in. Now it really shouldn't be a big deal because I get up at 5:45 anyhow to workout but disrupting the cycle throws me off and I'm half a step off all day for meetings and confrence calls.
To make a long story short I jump off the bus downtown at the end of the day and think "f#@k" I drove in today!
Now for some pizza with a hot date.
