We did the usual (for us on this vacation), zipping through stations with exotic names like Les Halles, Gare du Nord and Nation, names that are meaningless to me but after 2 days of riding the subways took on mythical proportions as reference points, before we jumped out into the sunlight near Notre Dame.
I'm still amazed that the image I've always had of Paris is of people sitting or strolling and eating. The city of cafe's I guess. It was infinately amussing to me to stroll a block or two off the main street and grab sandwiches and coffee at a pâtisserie and then do the exact thing I always pictured in Paris. Two sandwiches and two drinks for 7€ usually. I can say I didn't eat one thing there that wasn't outstanding.
So it was we found ourselves under the Pont au Double eating ham sandwiches and watching cruises go by on the river Seine.
Does throwing around French words make you feel supercilious too or is it just me?

I think by now everyone knows that visiting my parents is a thinly disguised excuse to hit Jeni's Ice Creams. just kidding Mom
Still it breaks up the drive and really, who doesn't want an ice cream cone?
Ah those wacky coaster fan-boys, they ran out of logic and so have to resort to this. Tough luck that I can have a good laugh at myself.
Actually I kind of like it. maybe a little jealous I didn't think of it first.

The party season is winding down now, still have a few to go but then this will be it until what? St. Pats day?
No wonder winter is so bleak, all the cheer runs out just as as grey clouds start cranking up and the artic clippers cruise down from the north.
Orchard St on the other hand was warm and cheerful the other night, I hope this turns into another holiday tradition, a great space and company.
...the message there is that faith in something that is not true, as long as it is faith in goodness, is worth the huge cover-up, while disbelieving leads to all types of evil behavior such as scooping pennies off the poor, scaring little children, and being a general stick in the mud.[where: 45202]best place to learn how to live downtown cincinnati ohio the ethos of Cincinnati

three guys on bus blah blah blah know wut i'm sayin? they're all saying that, i don't know what the hell any of them are saying
how come every time someone asks me "do you know what i'm saying" i have no idea what the f#@k they're talking about?
i shake my head no, but it doesn't slow them down
They keep talking and randomly asking me "do you know what i'm saying" so then I end up smiling and nodding. a lot.
explains why I never know what the hell is going on around me.
Good thing for me i have facebook and twitter to clue me in on whats happening around cincy, only the coolest parties in downtown appearing in the stream with me frantically clicking yes on each and every one of them.
One thing I can say clearly, it was fun hanging out with the guys from Powerhouse Studio and Higher Level Art.
I just wish some of that dopeness would rub off on me.
know what I'm sayin?

I love this stuff, Ms.5chw4r7z has boxes (and not small ones either) of old pictures. It always feels like a treasure hunt going through them. One thing young kids will get to experience less and less in the future, that thrill of digging through yellowed old pictures.
Or maybe they won't even care and its something only I get a kick out of, but I don't think so.

Christmas is all about tradition yes, but we changed it up a bit this year. Ms 5chw4r7z was worried about Sid getting into the tree so we drapped pine roping around and hung the decorations there.
You know what? I like it better, all the ornaments are visible now.
The best part of decorating for me was always the act of pulling stuff out of the box, lift an ornament and look at it, practically each one has a story, "that was mine when I was young, this one belonged to your mother" kind of cool.

The last movie on the Watch This list and AFI's #1, the official greatest movie ever made, Citizen Kane. Another movie I've never seen and I had high expectations and it didn't disappoint. From writing to acting and cinematography is was mind blowing.
Of course we all know Orson Wells was genius, and when he dropped the bomb, in 1941 mind you, that news runs 24hrs a day he had me hooked. I mean really, all these kids think they're inventing new worlds and chit! No, not really, its just we can actually put all these abstracts in practice with the internet.
I think he also foretold blogging when Kane wrote his manifest for the front page of his new newspaper and one of the editors told him he couldn't write in the 1st person.
Being the last Watch This event the Al & Al show pulled out all the stops, a screening at the Esquire and lunch at Virgil's Cafe.
