The Christkindlmarkt will be happening at Findlay Market the next two weekends (December 6-8 and 13-15), taking Over-the-Rhine back to its rich German heritage. Vendors will staff charming half-timbered houses, offering a large scale of traditional holiday sweets and European baked goods, Glühwein (hot spiced wine) and other hot beverages, beer, and handcrafted gifts and seasonal decorations.
Cincideutsch President and Co-Founder, Olaf Scheil says, “The Christkindlmarkt is a tradition that is hundreds of years old, originating in Germany and Austria. It is a place for people to get together with family and friends to enjoy the seasonal weather and celebrate the holidays. We are thrilled to be able to bring this tradition to the people of Cincinnati for the second year in a row.”
You're going to be at Findlay anyhow, make sure to visit the Christkindlmarktwhile you're there.
I don't know about you, they had me at beer.
Cincideutsch opened the season last weekend on Fountain Square.

Spearheaded by CoSign, Northside businesses paired up with artists and fabricators to create new exciting signs to help generate interest and business of course in the Northside Business District. The new signs were all unveiled on Black Friday with celebrations up and down Hamilton Ave.
CoSign is a partnership between the American Sign Museum, ArtPlace America, the Haile/U.S. Bank Foundation and Cincinnati's Northside Community.
This art above Django wasn't part of CoSign but for some reason I never noticed it before, is it new?

Yesterday was exhausting watching city council try to kill the streetcar. I don't know how Cranley and his merry band of sociopaths do it. Its not mentally exhausting screwing over an entire city when you hate it is all I can guess.
With that thought a little more about the city.
“The street is the river of life for the city. We come here not to escape them, but to partake them.”
~ William H. Whyte

That's what Rob Richardson, one of the original founders of Cincinnatians for Progress said, and he's right. The streetcar has come too far to stop now.
Yesterday thousands of Streetcar supporters lined up two to four or five people deep for almost a mile along the length of the completed streetcar line to show solidarity.
One thing I want to point out, everyone keeps repeating the advantages of the streetcar and how much it will cost to stop. But let's be totally honest now. The streetcar is a battle of egos and power. Once the streetcar is built young professionals will pour into the urban core. You think the old guard power brokers are happy about this? Hell no. They will still have their millions if they stop the streetcar, they aren't wasting their own money but ours. All the better to waste our money if they hang onto their power base.
But there are thousands of people already working to make sure that doesn't happen.
"...CAF has already incurred or committed a large part of the total project cost. This kind of projects involve a large amount of resources upfront in the design phase as well as in the placement of contracts with our sub suppliers which involves dozens of companies mostly located in the United States. CAF would have to cancel all the sub contracts which will, of course, include cancellation costs.Seeing how train maker Talgo is suing the state of Wisconsin for $65.9 million for canceling their plans, canceling our streetcar will get very expensive very quickly.
We hope all members of the City Council can be made aware of the enormous expense a cancellation of this contract would entail and that reason prevails..."

Taft’s Ale House is another brew pub announced for OTR. Because you can never have enough craft brewers within walking distance of your condo.
Obviously I don't have any after pictures yet but here are a few before pictures.
Its hard to get a grip on just how big this place is from the pictures, the space is massive. I wonder if any of these details will survive the remodel?
The church was formerly St. Paulus Kirche, the oldest surviving Protestant church in the city and the second oldest church in Cincinnati.

The Crafty Supermarket is an indie craft show that finally made its way to OTR and the Music Hall Ballroom after living in Clifton for a few years. We always manage to find the coolest Christmas gifts and this year was no different.
Random Snacks of Kindness are quickly selling out of their first run of snacks benefiting Artworks. Each snack contain a kindness note to help brighten the receivers day and to encourage kind acts. And the branding is awesome too, I love it.

Do you believe in beericles?
Because your excursions to The Party Source will never be the same.
Ei8htball Brewing has setup shop in the back of the Party Source beer section and they rounded up some of Cincinnati's beer rock stars including Mitch Dougherty a gold medal winning brewmaster and Peanut, formerly of Dilly Cafe.
Rolling in there the beer I was most interested in was K-Hole, a big bold Imperial Mocha Stout. The espresso that first hits your nose is incredible. I'm going to be drinking gallons of this stuff.
Won't be long until The Party Source has a whole having a good time monopoly. La Abeja cigars, their own Whiskey, and of course beer. Next summer is going to be more fun for sure.
