Senate and the 5chw4r7z dog
Everyone has been asking me about the feud with Senate. Didn't mean for it to sound like a feud as I considered it a misunderstanding from the get go. And last Thursday when I saw what the dog of the day was I knew I'd been punked. I knew they couldn't have been mad and they weren't, just some chain yanking at a bar so its all good.
Of course of all the things I considered could happen to me this year, Mallory naming me Vice Mayor. Jay Bruce giving me a ride in his real car or a regular guest spot on the Fox19 morning show, a hotdog named in my honor was never in the realm imagination.
Ms. 5chw4r7z: yes that's cool, but you'll still need to take the trash out in the morning.
I need at least one person keeping me grounded.

Just like me, not photogenic at all, a little preposterous, and unlike me, after reading about it online you're not let down when you see it in real life.
if you didn't get one last week, its too late now, Senate usually only runs their dog of the day for a day.
Daniel let us in on some of the coming plans for Senate, the most exciting I thought is a Sunday brunch, theres many places downtown to get breakfast, some better than others, but typicaly if you want something special you need to drive the Northside. I was intially attracted to this car because I like Dubwerx
They do awesome work, if you have a VW, take it there now.

So I thought it belonged to one of the owners of Dubwerx, for what I hope are obvious reasons.
But I found out it belongs to an owner of the new La Poste Eatery.
La Poste is going to specialize in wines. People who drive Audi's like wine.
People who drive GTIs really like beer.

Lunken Aviation Days
An airport open house they hold once a year, the B-17G Flying Fortress “Aluminum Overcast” made a visit and hosted tours, you could go for a ride in it too if you wanted, wasn't cheap though.
I remember last year we stumbled on this accidentally while riding our bikes when the B-17 flew over head. This year we were turned onto it through twitter. This year and last year are night and day, it was unseasonably warm and sunny last year, cold and spitting rain this year. Still an awesome day to geek out over some airplanes.
Lunken also pulled a few of its planes out of mothball to show case like this restored gem.
I remember being in one of these when I was young and my dad still flew.

Straus Tobacconist
A twitter friend KRSG has been inviting me over to Straus on Saturday mornings all summer, I can't make it but don't give up on me I'd tell him. This past Saturday was finally that Saturday morning I had free. I had only been in the store one other time since I buy about 98% of my cigars online. Surprising how many big name guys you see coming in there, they'd spend a few minutes gabbing with the owners each other and then wander back out.
Things I did not know. 3rd oldest cigar shop in the country still in operation. Opened in 1880. Nice quiet and relaxing way to kill an hour or so on a Saturday morning.
I thought it was cool how most of their pipe tobaccos were named after Cincinnati landmarks and neighborhoods. Suite 750, I wonder who resided in that office? The current owners don't know, that blend has been around years and years they said.
This can of pipe tobacco is 75 years old, the tobacco is still fragrant, its all in the storage.
Wonder what it would cost if you wanted to buy some since its all that's left.
Some people really need to get a life, trying to find info on this place online I looked at some yelp reviews, this guys is hilar. I don't understand why, if you hate smoking so much you waste your time reviewing tobacco shops. Some of the gems from his review;

Reds 2010 NL Champions fan appreciation day
And they rewarded us with a win,a good game to close out a fantastic season.Nothing like the other night though, clinching the championship with a walkoff home run from Bruce pretty much encapsulated the whole season.
Today was interesting for another reason also, last week at this time I was worried if our seats were in the sun or not and how hot we'd be, instead we spent two innings freezing before being the recipients of a suite upgrade.

The Cincinnati Reds will hold “Reds Rally on the Square” from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, October 4 on Fountain Square.
Players and coaches will appear at the rally at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Reds said.
The team will then fly to Philadelphia, where they will face the Phillies Wednesday in the first round of the playoffs.
Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman will host the festivities, which will include speeches from Reds President and CEO Bob Castellini, President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty, Reds Hall of Famer Joe Morgan and Manager Dusty Baker.
