Back in Youngstown all the Isleys shut down when I was young. And all I remember is that everyone lamented how good their chip chop ham was.

To my pre-teen mid I couldn't wrap my head around anyone missing chip chop ham. But I guess the soda shop there was something to behold also.
Anyhow, even though I had never been to a true old school ice cream shop, if I had, I would have remembered it exactly like this.

It's amazing all the wildlife you see once you get out into the sticks. This is the farthest we traveled out of downtown in awhile. Deer, lizards and weddings? Lots of interesting stuff when you leave civilization behind.

Well you know what Mike, I get the whole range of emotions from servers. I bet most people wonder about this, eye rolls, smiles and astonishment. The best was the poor guy at Olives, when he asked if we were critics and we said yes, he sprang to attention and was the model of the perfect waiter from then on.
I love Cincinnati, and all it has to offer, and your blog reinforces that.

Every once in a while I'm dragged kicking and screaming out of downtown, and this time I liked it
After the Beer Sellar and City View Tavern I must have got two dozens emails telling me to I had to hit Pirates Cove.
So I did.
What an absolutely perfect evening we chose to go too, warm but breezy, just an absolutely incredible night. The food was delicious, the drinks cold and the band competent.
What more can you ask for?
Well, it could be within walking distance of downtown, but I guess I can't have everything or it would be too good and you'd be forced to kill me.
I was super massive excited to find that they carried Landshark, buy it for the label, drink it for the taste.
I should be in advertising. The Margaritaville Brewing Co., can have that one on me.
For me, a cheeseburger in paradise has no cheese.

If you add in the time spent waiting for the bus, I think I could have walked there in about the same amount of time. But it was hot and sticky so I took the scenic route.

Extreme eating adventures are not for everyone
I always hate it when a movie reviewer for say the movie Star Trek starts out by saying, I hate science fiction but...
Now I'm going to do it, some people have accused me of being a picky eater, but I wanted to be open minded a give this a try because my friends were so excited about it. They really love the food, I liked a little bit of it but I guess for me it was the texture of everything I couldn't get over. Anything that looks the least bit squishy to me I have a hard time with. Give me extra crunchy french fries or yank the toast out of the toaster just before it burst into flames and I'm good to go.
Now Hold the Nuts. I totally lost my mind and got a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts. If you're at Plainfield and Montgomery, its good stuff.
