caffeinati

You made it to the drinkend and now its Saturday morning and you're feeling a little rough.
I've blogged about the places I love in Cincinnati but it turns out, south of the river you have some fantastic options for you espresso obsession. Whether you're in Covington or Newport there are now three new awesome places to go for your caffeine fix. And even better, all three are easy bike rides from downtown Cincinnati, or just a quick blast over in the car.
Left Bank Coffeehouse is the coziest spot of the three set in a residential neighborhood of Covington which I've taken to call the Brooklyn of Cincinnati. This is the place I'd end up to kill a few hours reading and sipping coffee or hot apple cider in the winter. They also happen to use locally roasted Deeper Roots Coffee beans, can't go wrong with that strategy.

I loved the vintage bikes hanging inside Newberry Bros. Coffee. If I was going to pick a coffee shop based solely on the pastry selection it would be these guys. On top of a nice selection of pastries, Newberry roasts and brews their own beans.

If I was picking a shop based on ambiance it'd be Carabello Coffee, I loved the blonde wood and old brick walls. The soft caramel that came with our drinks was a nice touch too. Carabello also roasts their own beans.

Each place has something a little different to offer so they're not even really competing, the three of them compliment each other. If you love espresso and coffee I'd be splitting hairs over which I liked better, they all have their own personality. You'll just have to spend a caffeinated morning discovering which is your favorite.

  4. Not at all! Covington is great, but this Brooklyn-as-shorthand-for-hip business has got to stop.

    1. AH, I see. That's not what I meant at all, Covington has old dense and really cool housing stock just across the river from the CBD. That is my take on it, not that its hipster, the fact that you could live in a urban neighborhood just across the river from a major city.

    2. More like the northern new jersey of Cincinnati, Newport is Hoboken and Covington is Jersey city.... ;)

    3. Brooklyn is still part of NYC and in the same state. Northern New Jersey may be a more apt comparison, Newport = Hoboken and Covington = Jersey City - still a stretch...

Does OTR work as a Bowery?
