the apartments AT580

AT580's tagline "live above it all" isn't pure hyperbole. The apartment/office building is located on 6th between Walnut and Main and sandwiched between the north and south run of the streetcar. AT580 isn't for the budget conscious but what you are paying for are incredible views of the city. While I would have loved to see the day time views we didn't make in until after the sun had set. Even so the views off the balconies and out the windows were impressive.

a junkyard for buildings

I tripped across this place by happenstance. U.C. is at least hanging on to interesting architectural features from buildings that have been demolished. Now we just need to see some interesting reuse of these pieces.

Historic Districts in Cincinnati are a "den of iniquity"

And associated with criminal activity and nefarious conduct.
At least that is what the Joseph Auto Group and their spokesdicks would have people believe. People who will never ever come downtown.
Why do people live and visit downtown Cincinnati? It isn't for its beautiful and ample parking. No, people visit Cincinnati for it's history, a history that people like the Joseph Auto Group and their spokesdicks are slowly destroying.
The only consolation I can take from this letter is that Barrett & Weber hopefully charged the Joseph Auto Group $4-500 an hour to write it and send it to me.

the graves of old garages

Pogues Garage is gone and I've been enjoying views that haven't been since since the ugly thing was built in the first place.
They better not screw the new development up, we'll be looking at it for the next 60+ years.

This view of 4th St is so beautiful its kind of a shame that it will disapear again later this summer.

Bockfest Parade

While some people feel that Bockfest is just another made up Hallmark Holiday, beer drinking is dead serious in Cincinnati.
Most groups participating in the parade are festive and celebrate a quickly approaching spring. The Krewe of Grimm however in a reaction to the current president were in full on preparation for the end of the world with their aBockAlypse entry.
They also took home the trophy for Best Themed Float.
Enjoy!

I wish you could have heard how mental "Ride of the Valkyries" sounded on those giant speakers. Adrienne perched on the hood sold the whole concept.

Somm Wine Bar and Kitchen

Price Hill is experiencing a little bit of a revival right now. Price Ave. at Hawthorne has been the home to the Bloc Coffee Company for years and has been joined by art galleries and now Somm. Somm has a relaxed vibe, maybe because the clientele, at least when I was there trended a little older than your typical OTR joint. I'm always taken aback when I visit bars and restaurants outside the core because of the size. There is plenty of elbow room right now in Price Hill and I loved the huge outdoor space. Somm specializes in wine but also has an adequate beer list.

save the buildings, save the city

“Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul.” - Edward Abbey

Cincinnatians can no longer afford to stand by and let outside interests destroy buildings in Cincinnati. These old buildings are what make a city a city.
Never mind the fact that Columbia REI, the owner of Joseph Auto Group, bought a historical building in a historical neighborhood.
I urge you to write your own letters and pledge to never spend a penny at one of their businesses.
The Dennison must be the last historic building that gets destroyed.
