the graves of old garages

Pogues Garage is gone and I've been enjoying views that haven't been since since the ugly thing was built in the first place.
They better not screw the new development up, we'll be looking at it for the next 60+ years.

This view of 4th St is so beautiful its kind of a shame that it will disapear again later this summer.

Nippert Stadium construction

Construction is going fast and furious on the new luxury suite/pressbox building. Construction should wrap up in time for the first home game this fall. In the mean time it has gotten to the point where consideration for all the network equipment needs to go, specifically wireless. Rest assured if you're in the posh seats you'll be able to facebook and instagram to your hearts content unlike the poor bastids in the cheap seats who no one seems to care about. The structure is massive but interestingly enough the interior was way smaller than I imagined it would be. Here you go, pictures, as usual don't do it justice.

This is what you get for $2500 a seat a year with a three year commitment.

Once the plastic weather breaks are down and all the glass is in the structure will be completely see through.

This party deck is going to be incredible with a full service craft beer bar just inside.

The first and only time I'll get a look out Prez Ono's luxury box.

streetcar construction

Too bad the streetcar won't be done in time for the All Star Game.
This is at Main St. looking west down 2nd.

dunnhumby Centre

The dunnhumby construction is picking up steam. Its already as tall as Macy's. Four of its nine stories are about poured, its going to be way taller than I was expecting.

And Pogue's Garage, I can't wait until this monstrosity is gone, its falling apart right in front of our eyes after years of deferred maintenance.

Yes, this is a big hole in the top deck. Watch your step!

THE A. NIELEN CO.

One hundred years of architectural sediment is in the process of being peeled away at 221 W 4th. St. The building was always beautiful from the waist up and if it is restored down to the sidewalk will now be good looking in its entirety.
A quick Google search revealed;
"Andries Nielen was a photographer who traveled the world in the 1920s taking photographs which he then made into postcards. He had a publishing company for many years in downtown Cincinnati at 221-223 W. 4th Street known as The A. Nielen Co. They were known as a publisher and importer of cheap and fast selling ten cent serial books. Nielen almost always typed little gems of wisdom on the back of his postcards."
