Experience Music Project Museum

Years ago, another lifetime almost I went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. I hated it. Music didn't translate to static items for me. Oh look, the clothes the Beatles wore on some random tour. How much more to this museum is there?
Fast forward to Seattle at the end of last year and Ms 5chw4r7z wanting to visit the Experience Music Project Museum. I didn't want to go but I was due to take one for the team.
Lucky for me the Experience Music Project Museum is completely different. Instead of relying solely on props EMP has a nonstop barrage of video's, music and displays to demonstrate the evolution of pop culture. From the crude A-HA videos all the way up to the Gorillaz's CGI.
There is nothing like seeing music videos blown up larger than life. I'm not much of a music fan, not to a geeky level at least, and I enjoyed EMP so I'm betting if you are a big fan you'll love this place. Put it on your list if you're heading to Seattle.

Its a couple years old but I became obsessed with Stylo after seeing it theater sized.


The history of horror was one of the revolving exhibits.

Starbucks

Back when we visited Seattle we were roaming around Pike Place Market and tripped across the original Starbucks. I needed a coffee anyhow so why not. The line was long but we didn't have anywhere to go and we had all day to get there. The amount of picture taking going on was epic too, i figured I'd just go ahead and get pictures of people taking pictures because its hard to make a Starbucks look very exciting.
Lots of pictures and consumption, everyone was ringing up $40-50 tabs. I felt a little weird getting a $2.25 coffee and leaving.
The best part of the whole experience was leaving with my coffee walking to the end of the block and seeing another comparatively empty Starbucks a short block away. Nothing to be done at that point but laugh.

Chihuly Garden and Glass

If you ever find yourself Seattle the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit could be worth checking out. You can get tickets bundled in with a pass to the Space Needle. This isn't going to be the most glowing review. Don't get me wrong, it was cool and all, but I got bored fast and started taking pictures of people taking pictures.
That was more challenging and fun.

Bell St

I was totally fascinated by Bell St in Seattle. Four blocks with no curbs, no sidewalks and no definable street. Well except for the planters, they roughly outlined a street but other than that pedestrians and bike riders were free to roam virtually everywhere. What I couldn't tell is if the small gardens captured rain water runoff or not. I can't imagine they wouldn't have done that.

Just like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, you could set your compass in Seattle by looking up at the Space Needle.
And there was a Bruce Lee film festival going on somewhere around there.
These were around Bell St. somewhere and I thought they were cool, I almost wish I had down spouts so I copy them.
