French Fry Heaven

Right off the bat my first impression of the name French Fry Heaven was that it was a pleonasm. Of course french fries are heaven. Saying French Fry Heaven is like your IT guy saying NIC card. Saying French Fry Heaven is like a politician claiming false pretense (which they do by the way proving I'm not the worst English speaker in the world).
OK, you get the point, I and I would dare say, almost everyone loves French Fries.

Sorry, just felt a French Fry inspirational haiku pop to the surface.

Back to French Fry Heaven, let's be honest here, you won't be doing any fine dining at French Fry Heaven, this is going to be a place you stagger into at 2am (they're open until 3am) to soak up those ten beers you drank at Bogarts. At 6pm, not so much, but I got to hang out and catch up with Ronny of Queen City Discovery fame.
The good news is just a few years ago you had only had Panera or Papa Dino's to choose from but now there are a dozen or so worthy options for lunch and dinner on Calhoun and McMillan.
And one place for 2am.

2 French Fries

OTR is creeping north!

Lots of new places in OTR lately, two of them having grand openings lately.
The first place we checked out was We Have Become Vikings. From their website, "We Have Become Vikings is a group of rebels, rockers, thinkers and makers combining strategy and design to help clients tell stories through any means possible — a true creative shop." WHBV are Jason Snell and Brandon Hickle offering full-service digital and print design. They also have a line of pretty cool Reds inspired hats and shirts.
WHBV also designed the Ezzard Charles Artworks mural on Central Parkway.

Another grand opening was Piston Society. Piston Society aims to offer unique urban motorcycle gear, art, clothing and motorcycle / scooter rentals in Cincinnati. Tim Burke who opened the shop is also the guy behind the hyper popular Garaged Brewed motorcycle show held annually at Rhinegeist.

After all that exploration was done we found ourselves next door to ZBGB. If you aren't a fan of the messier burgers of Terry's or Americano you'll love ZBGB, house made burgers and buns. And the fries, OMG the fries. ZBGB has the best French Fries hands down I've had anywhere. Next time you're around Washington Park just jog a block north on Race and check it out.

199C and Reds Opening Day!

In a lead up to Opening Day Covington based BLDG is hosting their annual 199C Reds/art party. 199C draws its name from the Pantone color for the Reds and is a collaborative art experience celebrating two great achievements: Baseball and the Reds.
One thig I did not have to discover, people really love art and they really love their Reds.

Sydney Kay whose custom ‘Vans Era Charlie Hustle’ shoes sold quickly.

Stores and popups were open up and down the street. Unheardof had custom tshirts, shoes and posters available.

Bridgetown Finer Meats

Well the Lenten Fish Fries are a distant memory already but I couldn't let it completely go without mentioning the king of the fish fries, Bridgetown Finer Meats. I know its too late for you to do anything about now, except for marking on your calendar for next year. Its not really fair to judge the church events against these guys who are trained professionals but there you go, life isn't fair.
And with 1853 fish sandwiches sold on Good Friday Bridgetown is doing something right.
Luckily again this year the weather was nice enough for us to sit outside. There isn't much seating so pretty much everyone but us gets theirs to go.
