So said Mayor Mallory last Friday, this is a project that everyone in Cincinnati can be pround of. As the mayor said this was a grass roots initiative pushed by bloggers, facebookers, twitterers and everyone else who got out the word and helped educatate their friends and aquiantences.
Everyone deserves a little bit credit.

Cincinnati Auto Expo

Even though I live downtown and push mass transit, I'm still a gear head at heart and love popping hoods and kicking tires. And though it can't compete even with Cleveland's car show in terms of concept cars the Auto Expo is still the best place to see and compare a variety of cars in one place.

Can't believe they had a Frisk in Cincinnati, the biggest hunk of automotive vaporware ever created. A couple Silicon Valley tycoons, masters of the world in thier hubris thought they could take their internet knowledge and apply it to making cars. Turns out the internet doesn't translate into infrastructure heavy manufacturing.
OK, enough ranting about a business model based on fleecing the government out of energy loans.

1215 Coffee Lab and Wine Bar

The life cycle of the newest bar in OTR is getting shorter and shorter. Bakersfeild was the newest for only a week before the 1215 Coffee Lab and Wine Bar opened this past weekend.

As 1215 has an almost non-existent kitchen the food is created by Cooking with Caitlin in her catering kitchen and then finished on site. We didn't eat this trip through but I've had Cooking with Caitlin's food before so it will measure up well with the other gastro pubs on Vine.

Sunday morning's at 1215 will be all about picking your poison. Do you need the Bloody Mary bar? A mimosa? or an espresso?
That all depends on what happened Saturday night.

Did they reinvent espresso in OTR? No that would be silly. But not that silly. Saturday morning Dojo Gelato served up a cup of 3rd Coast Mad Cap espresso which at the time I thought was the best I've tasted. That is until Sunday morning when I tried Tazza Mia's "sweet beard" blend espresso that was every bit as good. Which was better? I'd have to try them back to back to be sure, its too close to call.
In the battle for our coffee taste buds in OTR we're all winners.

Die Cupid Die!

The action was hot inside the jam packed opening for Ghost Empire Collective's first art show at Neon's.
Four original works painted live raffled during the evening, and everyone had a front row seat to watch the whole process.
I really dug the style these guys had especially Kurt Einhaus's take on Cupid, the one piece downstairs reminded me of an angel cast from heaven. And MAYDAK which I can't put my finger on but I really loved his stuff, maybe it was his geometric take on everything. That and the bold colors.
The fireball whiskey label could have been in the show.

Cincy Winter Beerfest

Did you make it to the Beer Fest, everyone was there, I shook more hands than Mitt Romney.
Some people had battle plans more complex than the first invasion of Iraq. To me, that's making beer drinking too much like hard work.
I just looked for anything shiny shiny and went with my gut. It mostly paid off, and if not I tossed the beer and moved on.
