Is this the biggest waste of news print ever? Its gotta be up there.
I wonder where the inspiration came from, maybe the editor wanted a sensationalized news story.

the Ikea campaign

I know everyone in Cincinnati has beaten us to Ikea, but I took some pictures anyhow. It took us like 6 1/2 hours to get through but we were having such a good time it didn't feel like it, well I guess it did a little we took a break halfway through for lunch. Lunch like breakfast was dirt cheap, we got the veggie wraps and a slice of chocolate cake. We started on the wraps leaving the desert for last which was a huge mistake. Eating the wraps gave us enough energy to wrestle over the cake! So an upturned table and a few overturned chairs later we dug into the cake. Oh man, we should have got one wrap and two slices of cake.
Live and learn.
The coolest part of Ikea and the most time consuming was the rooms they setup you couldn't just walk through, you needed to actually open ever door, pull open every drawer and peek in every closet.
But we got so many ideas for Parker Flats my head was bursting with all the possibilities.

AVSArt Gallery

Wandering down 4th St we noticed AVSArt Gallery open and wandered in. What a gallery, formerly Posh, formerly Linda Schwartz gallery. The current show Kevin Kelly's eye popping "Pop Art" is very interesting. Questioning relationships in a kind of he said she said manner. We ended up gabbing away with Andrew more than deciphering the true meaning of each piece but they had a way of pulling you in with the many layers of detail. Its refreshing to see a show like this in what locals are always complaining is a conservative town. And it has ruffled a few feathers, someone aparently is insanely jealous of Andrews success, Jessica Simpson and actress Tara Reid both own one of his paintings. I really liked the inspiration behind the Ascent is on Fire. He told me he kept seeing people out photographing it and an offhand remark, "man the Ascent is on fire" led to the piece.
I can't wait to see what else 4th has in store for it, its on its way up.

Cuckoo for Coco Puffs!

Wacko! was my intial reaction and why not? Thats exactly what they looked like. What you can't see in this picture is the giant Ron Paul sign on the hood. But I don't know anything about Ron Paul so why should I judge him by his supports? Good question. He might be the second coming and the best thing that ever happened to the country but he somehow attracted all the wrong people at the worst possible time and managed to scare everyone else off, but still , this tells me nothing about the man.

Which leads me to Obama, he's built a powerful brand with a huge following, but does filling stadiums with fanatic followers say more about them or him? The NYTimes ran a story about a store in New Hampshire selling plastic cups with the names of Obama, Clinton and McCain. They made a big deal about over 200 Obama cups sold vs. 85 for McCain. All it tells me are the McCain supports are more reserved in their displays of support. For instance, in '04 if you saw a car with a W sticker, it had one sticker. How many cars with an Kerry sticker could you say the same? Over compensation? Didn't help Kerry any. If the Obama supporters are desperate to show their support, it still tells me nothing about the man.[where: 45202]

birthday dinner and Prima Vista

Saturday night we we made the trek up price Hill to Prima Vista. It was still light out when we sat down at the table and we got a good show as the sky darkened and the city lights came up. It all added to the drama of the meal and made for a special evening. I'm glad we went.
UPDATE: I didn't think of it until UncleRando left a comment, but I visited the Westside and lived to talk about it.

UPDATED UPDATE:OK everyone, obviously my sarcasism went over everyones head. That was my jab back at everyone who makes negative remarks about the city, ok.

Breakfast at Ikea

Ms 5chw4r7z suggested grabbing breakfast there at Ikea before we started and after reading reviews of their cafe on everyones blogs I agreed. The breakfast wasn't bad at all, not bad, not out of this world but hey for $1.99 it was really good. If it was $29.50 at Orchids not so good, but it wasn't so it was. If you're getting me. The coffee was good and I just realized looking at the receipt that it was free which makes it awesome.
Free coffee is just one step down from free beer my friend.

Multi-cultural Festival on Fountain Square

The weather wasn't the greatest but we walked down anyhow, what an awesome time, a little mini taste warm-up. A couple local food vendors, some Christian Morlien beer and a bunch of bands. Plus hangin out and gabbing with downtown buds.

Who is still saying downtown is dead after 5pm? Not even WLWT can deny that anymore.
Just goes to prove what I've been saying, its a big city, of course if you don't pay attention and get off the beaten path you going to get into trouble anywhere. But in the core of the CBD? safe as can be for a big city.
What I find interesting is when I watch the news all the crime and violence seem to be out in the suburbs. Don't they even pay atention to their own news stories? I don't know where Anderson is, but from watching the news, I'm not going any where near it.[where: 45202]cincinnati ohio downtown
