UBBC Cincinnati Pride Ride 2016

In recognition of Cincinnati's LGBT Pride Week, the Urban Basin Bicycle Club and Cincinnati Pride co-hosted a group bike ride throughout downtown and Covington. The Pride ride has been one of the larger rides this season, It was amazing seeing people stop and smile and snap pictures or videos as we rode past. A bunch of crazy bike riders in bright outfits will do that.
What is the Urban Basin Bicycle Club? Every Tuesday at 6:45 UBBC leaves Fountain Square for a ride around the urban basin. They are themed rides and they usually end at a local bar for refreshments. No special bike, clothes or equipment is needed, pump up the tires, jump on your creaky bike and head downtown.

The Old brewery Ride

Every Tuesday at 6:45pm the Urban Basin Bicycle Club leaves Fountain Square for a ride around the urban basin. These are mostly themed rides and they usually end at a local bar for refreshments. No special bike, clothes or equipment is needed, pump up the tires, jump on your creaky bike and head downtown.
One of my favorite rides, although I admit I say this about most of the rides, is the old brewery ride. The are a dozen or so old breweries left around downtown, the west end and OTR. At some point this year that number will be declining by two. Sadly the Hudepohl and Lackman buildings are slated for demolition.

Riding around touring old breweries builds a thirst, a thirst that is best quenched at a new brewery. All of us ending up in one location highlights another issue, what is Cincinnati going to do when people really start to embrace cycling?

OK, I know I'm mixing languages, but it doesn't matter because it really isn't bike day either, its Bike Month! And to kick off Bike Month Crank Up Cincy and The Coffee Emporium hosted a bike poster show that will will be on display for the entire month. The poster show celebrates bicycles and cycling in Cincinnati.

This should have been my entry, next year, then I'll mail it to the mayor.We also were treated to Joe's brand new bike he built. And by built I mean he cut and mitered the tubes and bent them where necessary then brazed the frame together. And of course bolted all the components on after. This is Koehl Frameworks serial number 0001.



Joe's new frame gets a smile of approval from Cincinnati's Patron Saint of Cycling, Frank Henson.

No special bike, clothes or equipment is needed, pump up the tires, jump on your creaky bike and head to Fountain Square. Last week everyone rode towards the river then headed west. We were provided industrial scenes most people don't see everyday. Riding in the evening gave us empty roads with an oddly apocalyptic feel. The evening was rounded out with a few drinks over looking OTR on Rhinegeist's new rooftop deck.

I'm a little jealous, Brad bought a house that had a basement stuffed with vintage bikes and he has been riding a different one every week.






If the mayor has his way this building could be a shiny new parking lot.

3rd Annual Cincinnati Bike Show

Funny it was only a week or so ago we had one of those rain/sleet/snow kind of days but a bunch of enthusiastic bikers still showed up for UC|sustainability's 3rd Annual Cincinnati Bike Show.






I'm still trying to think up a reason to buy this electric cargo bike.



I did a double take because I thought this said 'Merica
