#MakersMobile - Cincinnati's mobile art space
Professional Artistic Research Projects is trying to raise the nessasary money to open the first section of their facility, #MakersMobile.
#MakersMobile will be Cincinnati's FIRST, fully mobile, shipping container art gallery and demonstration space. But more importantly, it's a wave of the future and the first piece of a multi-container, arts and education facility soon to land in Northside
Their Artworks power2give project has collected 47% of $9,978. Every dollar you donate is matched by the Johnson Foundation.
Jonathan Sears, the Executive Director for PAR Projects tells me
#MakersMobile is a mobile gallery and demonstrations space that will be constructed inside of a repurposed, 20 foot, high-cube shipping container and designed to bounce around the city offering intriguing exhibitions and weekend demonstrations ...all in an effort to continue spreading creativity throughout the region. The exterior is even being customized by Higher Level Art to give a little "pop" to wherever it lands.The #MakersMobile has scheduled stops in already in the Northside, East Walnut Hills, MainStrasse Village and Washington Park.

I always thought that was the coolest word. Like concrete from the future. George Jetson wouldn't use just any concrete he'd use ferroconcrete.
Once they get the foundation complete the dunnhumby building is going to come out of the ground fast.

When they pulled the scaffolding down off this mural at Vine and 12th I was a little disappointed. I thought really? That's it?
But ArtWorks had invested time and money in this mural so I didn't want to discount it out of hand as it must mean something to someone.
I tweeted an Artworks contact and found the title is Grace & Nepenthe #7.
The original, by Art Academy Fine Arts Chair Kim Krause was one of a series of paintings done to explore Grace. Grace he defines as "is the challenge or process of achieving complete ease without the appearance of doing so."
After that he gets deep referencing Nepenthe. Nepenthe "refers to a potion in ancient mythology used to forget daily reality and to amplify good feelings."
There is art I don't get until someone explains the context to me then it makes more sense. It always helps to know what the artist was struggling through when the art was created. But this isn't one of them, I still don't get this artwork.
I'm starting to wonder if downtown/OTR is over saturated with murals now and they are running out of ideas. A few years ago it was always an unexpected surprise to see one of the rare murals downtown but now they so common they don't warrant a second look and that's a real shame.
I'm also tempted to go on a long rant on art snobs in academia, but I'll save the rant on how people are expected to consume art for another time.

Another little hidden gem in Covington is flow at 621 Scott St. Every since Jackie moved to Covington I've seen more of The Cov and have been impressed with the buildings, homes and businesses in the area.
