...the message there is that faith in something that is not true, as long as it is faith in goodness, is worth the huge cover-up, while disbelieving leads to all types of evil behavior such as scooping pennies off the poor, scaring little children, and being a general stick in the mud.[where: 45202] best place to learn how to live downtown cincinnati ohio the ethos of Cincinnati

I love this stuff, Ms.5chw4r7z has boxes (and not small ones either) of old pictures. It always feels like a treasure hunt going through them. One thing young kids will get to experience less and less in the future, that thrill of digging through yellowed old pictures. Could be they'll just turn their noses up at someones choice of filters.
Or maybe they won't even care and its something only I get a kick out of, but I don't think so.
she still looks exactly like this

MidiCi Pizza have opened their first Ohio location at 6th and Race St. in the 84.51 building. MidiCi joins a growing restaurant row on Race where you can now find about anything to eat at about any price point. MidiCi Pizza's claim to fame is the Neapolitan Pizza made famous by Queen Margherita.
Authentic Neapolitan Pizza is known for its a chewy and crisp dough topped with all-natural ingredients, all baked to perfection in 90 seconds.
I love wood fired pizzas and MidiCi is legit, I loved the crust, slightly puffy, chewy and a good toast from the 1,000°f ovens.
MidiCi has some amazing appetizers, we got the homemade meatballs and of course all the cocktails, wines and beers you could want.

What would you do if you could purchase a house for a couple thousand dollars? If you are Mark Dejong you turn it into a functional work of art. Much like the 5K House he finished three years ago, Mr. Dejong uses his artistic background to find elegant solutions for issues in the house. For instance, instead of remodeling all the rooms, why not bust out all the walls and floors and make it one big room? And that is exactly what he did, and he hung a swing to boot. But while everyone was focused on the swing I was fixated on all the little details in the place. Like how he left plaster from each room with its original paint creating a mosaic on the walls. There is also a cool little art gallery in the basement made from wood and other items found in the house.
The most amazing thing about the Swing House is it is functioning home, including a kitchen and bath.
You can check this out yourself next weekend December 9th and 10th from 12-4pm.

Place Settings for Social Justice pop-up show was held at Dick Wallers Art Place on Court St. This was a collaboration by Cincinnati artists.
In Spring of 2017, performers from Pones Inc and visual artist Pam Kravetz invited audiences to sit down, share a meal and discover stories of local immigrants around our table.
This fast-paced piece changed from family dinner to art gallery, cooking show to dance. “Place/Setting” broke down barriers, diffused stereotypes, cultivated empathy and challenged patrons to explore ideas of belonging and home.
The original ceramic place settings that accompanied the performance were inspired by immigrants who live in Cincinnati. Each unique story influenced a local artist to create a handmade place setting. The designs and shapes of the plates, cups, and utensils reflect emotions and cultural influences from each individual narrative.

The Cincinnati narrative has always been that it is a beer city. And it's true. But I would wager that far more people drink coffee than beer. Although, like beer, many of those people could be drinking bad coffee.
Luckily for us, there are coffee lovers out there trying to change that. La Terza Artisan Coffee Roasterie offers tours and classes to educate the public. But it got me wondering, much like microbreweries or artisan bread bakeries popping up I wondered, should there be more coffee roasters than there are? I had a conversation with one of the co-founders of Collective Espresso and he agreed. "oh yeah" he told me, "a city like Cincinnati should have a roaster in every neighborhood"
I've recently discovered two small roasters, and funny enough they are both located in Bellevue Kentucky. The first, Redland Coffee Roasters is named after the original name of Crosley Field. Redland Coffee is small batch, usually, a couple pounds a week on demand that rotates through an Ethiopian, a Nicaraguan, a Mexican and a Costa Rican. I've found Redland Coffee to be flavorful and more complex than your run of the mill coffee. Redland Coffee Roasters doesn't have a website yet but you can contact them and order through their facebook page.
The other roaster is UnaTaza who works with a single grower in the Honduras. I've had UnaTaza the last four days over Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. UnaTaza doesn't have a website yet, you can contact them through their instagram account.
I'm sure there are plenty more small guys out there, I just haven't heard of them yet. Mad Llama told me there are planning to start roasting next summer so that will be a nice addition to Madisonville.
Deeper Roots Coffee, La Terza, Coffee Emporium are the bigger guys and now Redland Coffee Roasters and Unataza. I'm sure there a couple more out there, who am I missing?
