Cricket Lounge
Sometimes, living downtown doesn't afford the opportunities you'd think it would. Take happy hours, if you don't work downtown by time you get home and drop off the days burdens, its 6pm if not after and the friends you would want to met are packing it in at the bar and heading home.
So it's exciting to see more places extending their happy hours into the weekend. Lured by inexpensive liquor and cheap eats we make our way to the Cricket Lounge inside the Cincinnatian Hotel at 6th and Vine. Their happy hour runs 4:30 to 7pm seven days a week.
One caveat, on a Saturday afternoon we were competing with wedding parties for space but we managed to carve out a spot for ourselves in a side sitting area.
The happy hour features a range of $3-4 beers, $5 martinis and $5 burgers and other munchies.
The handcut fries take you right back to the state fair, hot and salty they wouldn't be out of place in a paper cone. And while the burger isn't the best one you're ever going to eat, you did only pay 5 bucks for it, and it certainly isn't the worst one you'll come across downtown.
Have an hour or so to kill on a Saturday afternoon? This would be a good place to impress some out of town friends while waiting for the show to begin.
