Its that time again, FSBL Broomball action is cranking up on the Square Monday thru Wednesday evenings.
Broomball if you're not familier follows hockey rules but the players wear sneakers and use a ball and the stick is more of a paddle. There are 40 teams in three classes so there room for players of all skill levels. At the highest level there's a group of ex-Miami college broomball players who were champions. One of the reasons the different level of classes were created. The teams have a mix of men and women, but don't think for a moment they're getting pushed around, they're out there mixing it up with the boys, if anything, the girls being smaller may have it easier starting, stopping and changing direction, the mens strenght doesn't mean much when they don't have firm footing
So come down and watch, its the most fun you can have with a coat, a hat, gloves, a sweatshirt, longjohns and two pair of socks on.
Listening to these guys call the games is worth the price of admission all by itself
contrary to the way it appears the Little Kings and Queens (named for their sponsors) have a good defense, they need to sort out the offense now.
My Maddenism for the day "once they start scoring more points than their oppenents they're gonna be tough to beat"
