Deeper Roots Coffee Findlay Market

Deeper Roots Coffee quietly opened their newest coffee shop at 1814 Race St. two weeks ago and held a grand opening this past weekend. I always thought the one thing Findlay Market was lacking was a dedicated coffee first vendor and now that has been rectified. DRC already provides coffee for some of the best coffee shops and restaurants in the area so I'm really excited they opened a second location at Findlay. A cool twist to the typical coffee shop experience is they've deconstructed the bar so you're almost elbow to elbow with the baristas crafting your drink. You also get an up close look at the Modbar pour over system that takes crafting a pour over from an art to a science. For the average person maybe this isn't a big deal, but I bet the majority of people have no idea how much work goes into a coffee drink. Maybe the open design will only be a draw for coffee geeks but for anyone interested it could provide valuable insight into what the baristas are actually doing.
The best coffee in Cincinnati married to a inventive relaxing space.
Grab a coffee and a pastry 8am to 4pm every day.

Cincy-tastic

On any given night in Cincinnati there seems to be one more thing happening than we're able to get too.
And like the kids say, a good problem to have.
An all women tattoo inspired art show next to a tattoo shop? ✔

A mexican place we've heard tons about. ✔

A chill wine bar? ✔

BLINK:2.0

A few more random pictures of Blink while I try to process just what the hell I experienced at BLINK last weekend, I think one of the most impressive aspects for me was how it brought everyone together as a community. I've never seen a crowd of people that large get along so well with each other. I'm still awestruck.

Blink
If BLINK happens again I hope the city works with the organizers to shut down large portions of the route to traffic. If people wouldn't have been driving cars around like it was the holiday of lights the streetcars could how flowed freely and there wouldn't have been a crush of people at every stop.

It was so cool the amount of people who really got into the spirit of BLINK over the weekend.

I found out last night that the subject of this mural lives in that building. How awesome it must be for her to look at it everyday and know that people see her and she matters!

BLINK Cincinnati

Cincinnati: The Future City!
I hope you were as challenged and inspired as I was.
What an amazing party, it was every event held in Cincinnati rolled into one x 100.
BLINK was expected to be one of the largest light, art and projection mapping events in the nation, it featured large-scale projection mapping, murals, urban artscape, media light and interactive art. I would be shocked if it wasn't the biggest events Cincinnati has ever hosted. There was a solid mass of people overflowing sidewalks from the Banks all the way to Findlay Market. The organizers were hoping for a half million people, I bet they surpassed that easily. It will be interesting to see the estimates.
Its hard to put into words how overwhelming the whole thing was. The installations, the people, everything.
Everywhere I went people exclaimed, "I hope they do this again next year!" Well that won't happen because it took them over a year to plan it, but if someone steps up and donates a couple million the organizers can do it again in two or three years.
How amazing would that be?

Architects of Air

Its hard to put this experience into words, I guess if you landed on an alien world with no points of reference it might feel like this.
Totally alien.
The funny thing is, its not just visual, I could feel weight pressing down in the red sections and it would lift off in the blue sections. And it was a cloudy day, if it is sunny Saturday like the forecast says it will be this thing will be amazing.
Architects of Air of air is the only Blink exhibit open during the day and the only one with a cover charge. But it is totally worth the $5 entry fee. Its open 10am through 6:30pm through Sunday.
Don't pass it up.

Empower opens shop in OTR

The Marketer, a brand new, 64,000-square-foot commercial office building at 15. E 14th Street hosted a ribbon cutting yesterday morning. Well, it would be more accurate to say a pancake cutting. See Empower has six core values and they don't pay them lip service. Those core values appear iron clad and were repeated throughout the building. Getting back to the pancakes, Breakfast First is the first core value. Its about breakfast but not just about breakfast. If a day, a project or anything else begins with thoughtful purpose good things will follow.
The Marketer was built on an empty lot but is is connected to a very old existing building. The Hukon was saved at great expense and testifies to Empower's commitment to the OTR neighborhood as a steward and a good neighbor. The Yukon holds a number of state of the art conference and meeting rooms as well as a gym for employees.
Good things are happening for Empower, MediaPost’s 2016 Agency of the Year and one of the nations largest independent media agencies.
Welcome to OTR.

The 4th floor, which they will eventually lease out has some mind blowing views. The only part of the tour that had me scratching my head was this, why didn't they skip the first floor and go two through four? If you're in need of a large open office with views to impress clients call Empower right now.
