A Place in the Sun
We could sure use that right now, with the snow flying.
My intial thought as I settled into Alex's awesome theater seat is, WOW is his apartment clean!
Mother approved, friend tested.
could you put that down and socialize?
I am socializing, with hundreds of people all over the world!
The Film This project is now up to(down to?) #92 on AFI's Top 100 films reviewed at Alex's bachelour pad last Friday night. Now My understanding is that these old great films become great because they stand the test of time. Not this one, after trying nearly every filmatic trick to convey tension and drama, George Stevens had single handedly shown the film industry how not to do it. Wow, now that I think of it, maybe A Place in the Sun was great because it served as an example how NOT to make a movie?
We got so bored that finally when it got to the point loons called out when Montgomery Cliff, the lead, got a particularly evil idea, we'd all bust out laughing.
It was educational on another level though, Anne Revere the actress portraying Cliff's mother is a direct desendent of Paul Revere and she was blacklisted from movies for almost 20 years after taking the 5th during the Mccarthy era witch hunts.
I know Maya would be smiling over this.
After the movie Alex auctioned off suplus art work, not for money, but for whatever you had to offer.
This whole post has nothing whatso ever to do with the fact that I won this painting in the non-money auction.
The Al & Al show.
No, NO, that's no good take another one
OK, whateva I think it looks good.
YES, I like that one much better, thanks
Is he even old enough to be drinking that?
DISCLAIMER: Parts of this post have everything to do with the painting I won in the non-money painting auction.

Oh man, that seems like a great time. I definitely need to start investing in some local art... if I can find wall space for it in the new place.
ReplyDeleteThe piece you won looks awesome. Share pictures when you hang it?
