This thing is quite odd. I've been past it a couple of times and always have to give it a double-take.
ReplyDeleteI live right by there and see it almost everyday. I love having something that over-the-top nestled in with the police station and all those conservative Hyde Park houses.
ReplyDeleteI just don't get that house. It's sooo ugly. I think it's the way it's shingled. It freaked me out the first time I saw it. Would love to know the story behind it.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link with some info and more pics.

All the pictures you can find are of the outside. I can drive by the house anytime.
ReplyDeleteI want to see the INSIDE of the house. They should have tours or something.

A television program on 'strange' architecture featured this house & toured it.
DeleteAt some point in the last 1-2 years, the house was listed for sale. Can't recall exactly, but I think the list price was pretty high ($700-800K ?), especially considering it only has one bedroom. (Based on HC Auditor site, doesn't look like it sold.) The listing included photos of the inside - and it was as strange as the outside.
ReplyDeleteThat house sold for about $400k from what I heard. I just moved to Ohio a couple months ago, and just discovered this house while researching the state.
ReplyDeleteI am going to see it this weekend.

Here is a slide show of the interior...
