Major Taylor Velodrome

From the Major Taylor Velodrome wiki: The Major Taylor Velodrome is an open-air cycling track in Indianapolis named for Marshall Taylor. The Velodrome was opened in 1982, having been built at a cost of 2.5 million dollars. It was a facility required to host that year's National Sports Festival, with money coming from a partnership between the Indianapolis Parks and Recreation Department and the Lilly Endowment. It was the first building built with public money in Indianapolis to be named for a black person.
I've been wanting to see track bike racing for awhile now, last year something always sprang up on those weekends and this season was shaping up the same way. I bit the bullet and just did a fast trip out there and back. I'm glad I did its a cool venue and sport.
