once upon a time downtown

We have this tradition, no idea how it started, we grab some take out and celebrate our wedding anniversary on Fountain Square. It was probably because we were still amazed that something like Fountain square existed at all. We certainly didn't have anything like it back in Y-Town. Its worked out pretty good for us too. the Square always seems to be a place of adventure, there's always people walking around gobsmacked like hayseeds with their mouths open in surprise, which is probably exactly how we were when we first wandered in years ago.
This year we're sitting talking while catching parts of a conversation at the next table where a couple is debating where to eat dinner. The guy is getting agitated because he didn't come to Cincinnati to eat at a Palomino's or Rockbottom when he could visit them at home. So Ms 5chw4r7z and I start gabbing with them and I'm talking about OTR and the guy asks if those restaurants are brewpubs, no more gastropubs I say. Ms 5chw4r7z interjects "Moerlien!" the brewer? the woman asks, yes indeed. Just a short walk to The Banks.
high fives all around
Cool feeling to save someones weekend.

Ms 5chw4r7z had been wanting to check out Sotto, so we walked over for desert. The space is incredible with some dramatic lighting. Anniversary's call for rich chocolate deserts and Sotto didn't disappoint with the Chocolate Budino that consisted of candied hazelnuts and gianduja mousse.
Gianduja is Italian for pretentious I joked.
ok, half joked. maybe not joking
If you go to Sotto don't expect anything that isn't Italian. the wine is Italian, the beer is Italian and so is the food.
