meanwhile, downtown with my bullshit detector

I really don't know care anything about the county auditor or what his duties are but I've noticed him lately perched on his supercilious soapbox complaining about how ugly the overhead wire for the streetcar is. First of all, its interesting that politicians outside the city are still pandering to their non city base on an issue they have no control over. Its also striking how desperate and pathetic protests over the streetcar are getting.
The overhead wire is ugly?
Really?
Does anyone know where the Hamilton County Auditor lives because I'd love to go over there and see how ugly the wires are around his street.
On the upside, I guess that overhead wired does stand out because all the utilities are buried downtown. Or maybe he feels that overhead wires should only have traffic signals hanging from them.
(this isn't the streetcar wire, or even anywhere near the streetcar luckily or there would be an ugly silver wire down the middle)

  1. Was it the Dayton buses that were electric and would arc and spark as they powered down the yumpy streets?

  2. Overhead wires are an aesthetic menace all over the City. After the Winton Road upgrade from Galbraith north to E. Compton, there are 110 utility poles with up to 13 layers of wires in some points. Ugly! On Conroy in OTR, ugly wires and transformers mar the city views on the southern side of the hillside.

  4. Just so happens the answer to the question you ask is a public record. . . . https://www.google.com/maps/place/5654+Alomar+Dr,+Cincinnati,+OH+45238/@39.10055,-84.634236,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x8841c9911a899ba3:0xbc8b5a4f8f10f808

    2. And if you look at street view, he has wires in front of and beside his house. The pole is literally across the street :p

    3. One of my best friends in elementary school used to live about 10 houses down from him. If he wants to know what's ugly, it's not the beautifully repaved and streetcar tracked Elm and Race Streets in OTR, it's Delhi Pike just around the corner from where he lives and presumably where he does his shopping and dining.

    4. Thanks Randy, I'm going to roll over there and take some pictures. I had forgotten he was also complaining about the transformer on Court St.

    5. Randy when are you going to write about the development lessons learned from a lifetime of bad choices on Delhi Pike?

  5. It is amazing to me how few of the city's power lines are buried. In fact, this is one thing many European tourists notice right away. It is quite rudimentary to not bury your utilities, but for some reason many people in America view it as a luxury.
