Monday Night Football

I really wanted to see the Ravens kick some Steeler 455 last night but not having cable I was going to have to go to a bar which I wasn't really in the mood for. Then a timely email from 3CDC that they were showing Monday Night Football on Fountain Square. How awesome is that. I love Fountain Square, I'd marry it if I could.
The luck continued as I crossed paths with the fab Kate the Great and gabbed with her awhile.
Only made it to half time with the Ravens leading. Can't believe they blew it.
And what the hell was up with those baby puke yellow uniforms?

MidPoint Music Festival Day 3

Last night was disappointing in some regards, such as bands running so late we had to leave before they started and a few that weren't very good. The slate on this whole weekend was wiped clean by God Made me Funky. These guys brought down the house at the Know.
They were funky and they knew it.
clap your hands
Of course the whole night was capped off by Bootsy walking up and wanting his picture with the 5chw4r7z.

MidPoint Music Festival Day 2

Friday night started out clear and cool with tons of promise, we really didn't have any bands picked out in the early time slots then just for the heck of it we went to Javier's to see Boss Monkey which turned out to be a really good pick and we enjoyed their set. Then north to the Coffee Emporium we caught the last song of Jayne Sachs while waiting for Alyse Black. they were both good but I was ready for some high energy so back down to Inner peace for Lonely China Day. They came all the way from Beijing, so I thought we were in for something special. I was really disappointed, they were a performance art type group, but there wasn't enough energy. 4 or 5 minutes of boring followed by a minute or two of holy s#!t!. But too little too late.
Then to the Subway where the The Seedy Seeds were ending their set, this is who we should have shot for, reminding me of the B52's the club was hopping.
After that Chico Fellini was just too weird and too loud to get into.
The shame is not having the festival on Main Street, the venues are so spread out this year it just doesn't seem to have that buzz. Before there was such a mass of people on the street that it really felt like something special was happening. This year just doesn't have that.

Lonely China Day doesn't translate to the web very good, they were way more impressive in person. For two minutes.

MidPoint Music Festival Day 1

MidPoint all started off early with Seabird on Fountain Square, a pop band the crowd was really getting into.
Then we were off to Cadilac ranch for Marvin and the Experience. I was skeptical about how the festival was going to work there, but it seemed to work out good. As the earliest show, and on a Thursday the crowd was never going to be huge and it wasn't. Off to twist then for a slight diversion as we tried to catch but missed the Christian Moerlein fashion show to kick off the new Moerlein online shop. Then a foot race up to Below Zero for Daughters & Sons. Willy Morren had so much soul, ala Chris Robinson of the Black Crows, I can't believe I've never heard a buzz around town about band this good. Watch out, these guys should be going places.
Hated to see that set end, then it was back down the street for the Turnbull AC's in the Inner Peace Holistic Center. That place was hot, not rockin hot. Hot.
Tired with a splitting headache right now, the next two nights should just get better.

Cilantro

After realizing how close our work places were, Kate and I decided last week to meet up for lunch, she had good things to say about Cilantro so thats where we headed. Fighting my way there through five thousand students moving in, I didn't have good feelings about Kate making it, but fighting her way through she did.
The place wasn't much on decor, but I liked the food, very light flavors and tasty.

Over the Rhine construction tour

This past Saturday urbancincy organized an OTR construction tour. The constuction guys have been busy up here, these were all new properties I hadn't seen before and it was impressive. The units in OTR are truly unique and you won't find stuff like this anywhere else they've tried to re-use original materials in many of them.
Walking around, it still amazes me the number of empty buildings that abound, its going to be years before anyone is pushed out the occupied buildings for those of you still concerned with gentrification.
It seems like the prices are slowly climbing up, and are getting closer to CBD prices. I just can't help but feel when those streetcar tracks are laid down this place is going to explode.
