Over the Rhine construction tour

This past Saturday urbancincy organized an OTR construction tour. The constuction guys have been busy up here, these were all new properties I hadn't seen before and it was impressive. The units in OTR are truly unique and you won't find stuff like this anywhere else they've tried to re-use original materials in many of them.
Walking around, it still amazes me the number of empty buildings that abound, its going to be years before anyone is pushed out the occupied buildings for those of you still concerned with gentrification.
It seems like the prices are slowly climbing up, and are getting closer to CBD prices. I just can't help but feel when those streetcar tracks are laid down this place is going to explode.

Ever been sitting on the bus or in a waiting room and then suddenly wind up next to a bunch of fast-talking teenage girls or someone chatting on a cell phone too loud? Maybe they didn't physically displace you from your seat, but you still felt intruded upon. Gentrification's cultural takeover is just as real a concern for a neighborhood as the physical changes. A lot has needed to happen in OTR for years, and I'm glad to see the new developments, but let's not pretend gentrification isn't an issue here.
