streetcar tracks, before and after

For years streetcar opponents have had various arguments against the streetcar, and over the years they've fallen by the wayside one by one. And after years of the streetcar proponents claims the streetcar would transform OTR it is coming to pass.
But somehow, in an epic line of reason that borders on a sociopathic level of denial, the opponents claim these developments would have happened anyhow. That after 50 years of 4 or 5 bus routes past these locations the fact that none of them happened until streetcar tracks appeared is a colossal coincidence.
But mostly, like everything else, the simplest explanation is always correct. Rails have gravity al pull economic development to them.
Now I can't wait for all the development to spread downtown. I'll have a bunch of before and afters for downtown too!

  1. I STILL have people complaining to me about the Streetcar. What frustrates me is how the media uses budgets dishonestly when discussing it. The income produced by the Streetcar does not show up in the same bucket, but still fills the city coffers. Pisses me off when I see all these articles about massive projects in town because of the Streetcar. Then the same paper or media make no mention of this when discussing Streetcar budgets.
