That's not to discount their food, the burgers are legit. but I can see their point. Nation doesn't want to live or die by their burgers or discourage anyone who wants to think of Nation as a place to just hang out and drink. I have to say, Nation is a breath of fresh air. Thank gawd there are no Edison bulbs or other trendy interior design features to be seen. Nation is just a neighborhood beer beer joint. That happens to serve burgers that you don't have to settle for. Nation, named for Carrie Nation who famously showed up in Cincinnati, sighed, shoulders sagging and decided there were just too many damned bars in town to bust up, she got back on her train and left. I'd like to think that Nation is a continuation of that tradition.

This is an aside, but every time a new place opens in OTR the hand-wringing starts about whether OTR is over saturated now and if one of them will fail. I think we're a long way off from that yet but it got me wondering. The supply of people who want to work in the service industry can't be infinite. When does that employment market start getting tight?

The Whiskey burger with bacon and apple sticks. The apple sticks are a creative and subtle touch. I need to start doing this at home.
A Girl Scout thin mint. It reminded me of how Local127 used to give you a couple chocolate chip cookies with your bill. Nice touch.
