The Friday Fish Fry road show is on the ....a...road, Again
On the road and on a quest for the perfect fish fry, if there is such an animal. And since we're been tasked with this quest there is no law saying we can't have a good time while doing it right?
So it was last Friday we find ourselves in Ludlow at the KoC waiting in line for fish when what happens? Fred comes strolling past with a pitcher of beer and cups and is offering one to people waiting in line. We smile broadly, oh yeah, I think I like this fish fry already.
If by "good" beer you mean "free" beer then yes, it was good.
The first fish fry of the season is always hard to judge, it is going to be the litmus test for all that follow it.
So here we go, the KoC's beer battered fish, the outside crunchy, the inside tender. This fish matches the gold standard set by
Mary Queen of Heaven last year. Unfortunately the sides let it down. The fries weren't crunchy and while some people like fries like that, I am not among those people. And the cole slaw, I couldn't put my finger on it but something was a little off on the taste. the deserts, oh man, the deserts were good!
The Ludlow KoC ended up with a tentative 3.5, if the fries had been equal to the fish this could have been a 4.5 easy.
When you start thinking bang for the buck, this might be one of the best, so definitely try it out this season.
Life is short, get desert while you're waiting for dinner.
Everytime the fish fry roadshow rolls through we manage to find people to talk to, people who think we're all clinically insane. And Ludlow City Council person Joyce McMullin and her husband were no different.
But Joyce is an excellent ambassador for Ludlow, and she told us “This isn’t fast food, but it’s good food.”
Thanks Joyce, but I hope you don't judge Cincinnati bloggers too harshly now.
