You know the guys downtown who wear their dress shirts untucked to show they don't care? The thing is, they're so uniform that its a uniform and what they're really shouting is "I'm afraid to show an ounce of style, I'll get ridiculed."
These days to be a rebel you have to wear a tie.
Or even better, if you want to be the equivalent of a 60s hippy, don a tux.
A group of us did just that. It all started out with a couple guys joking around they should get decked out for dinner and it turned into 15 guys at The Precinct for steaks.
Now all girls may not act like this but the women at The Precinct were completely freaking out that we all wore Tuxedos. None of them would believe we dressed up just for something to do.

No we weren't riding hills but riding around finding the base of Cincinnati's five inclines. As you can imagine, the last incline stopped operating in the 40s so there isn't much to see these days.
Mount Adams incline is the only one with a marker at the base.
Jerome - bartender and owner of the Rake - is a great person and a true believer and contributor to grassroots community development. He's been a landlord and supporter of the neighborhood for over a decade, and he went out on a limb to invest in the neighborhood further by buying the bar. All of the art on the walls is also art created by his art collective TODT (http://todt.us/) The last photo in this post is of a piece that was featured in TODT's show at the Weston last September titled "Exurbia". Jerome is literally putting himself into the bar.
Unlike OTR which has seen over $300 million dollars in investment from a variety of public and private sources, Brighton has had gradual and organic growth over the past decade or two, limited by the time and energy and financial resources of a handful of residents. This grassroots, sweat equity community development has given the neighborhood a character and cohesiveness unlike any other neighborhood in the city. I encourage everyone to stop by and check out the galleries and check out the Rake more often! The first Saturday evening of every month is the Brighton Gallery Walk.

A benefit for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, tons of good looking people and me. But I finally got to check out Stuart MacKenzie's new band DAAP Girls Good stuff, a rocking party band.
The event, took place in a converted Newport church dating from 1901 so its fitting the last party I went to there I met an actual vampire. True story, laugh if you want, but I even saw her out a few more times if I happened to stay out really late at downtown bars. But I haven't seen her for years now so I wonder if Abe Lincoln finally staked her or if she just moved on.
(Long story really, you're have to ask me IRL sometime.)

Awesome food and company last night at Virgil's Cafe in Bellevue.
Most of the moisture stayed away, only a few raindrops and a few tears.
So long buddy, we'll miss you.
