If you're on social media at all you couldn't help but see that hashtag everywhere. Its like the world exploded in a rainbow Friday and turned into one of the craziest weekends I can remember. I'm usually not much for the Pride Parade but the Urban Basin Bicycle Club had an entry so we jumped on the bikes and joined in. I've never actually been in a parade before so I don't really have anything to compare it too, all I could think was this is intense. People lined the whole route but there were so many on Vine St when we turned the corner from Race I was amazed. The crowd choked the street down to about a lane and a half for a couple blocks and it was wild looking out over a sea of people from the vantage point of my bike.
I don't have any history to be angry about and I don't have an ax to grind so even though there were some grumbles I thought it was amazing these guys were smiling and joking waiting for the parade to start. People were running up, getting selfies and it all seemed pretty relaxed.

The parade moved slow and instead of stopping and putting a foot down every couple minutes we rode the bikes round and round in circles.

Pam is insane. That is all.

The City Flea

I was told once that you should never blog about the weather because no one cares. But the thing about rules is knowing the right time to break them. The City Flea dawned rainy but I was biding my time because it looked like the rain would be moving out. I jumped on the bike when it was still sprinkling and got to Washington Park when it stopped. Funny how that works, I had the place sort of to myself for a half hour or so before people really started pouring in.
Just like the stock market, for every bunch of people who lose, someone gains. And at The City Flea that someone this week was me.Walked right up to Roll With It Cafe and scored a fried green tomato BLT which was amazing by the way and I highly recommend.
Walked right up to the concession stand and got a beer.
I was unstoppable!

OK, I think this is the coolest story, James Billiter , pictured above sees Maria looking at a Union Terminal print and starts talking to her about it, then I hear something along the line of, "listen I know you want it and I want you to have it". And then he made her a killer deal on the print. I was like wow, I wasn't even involved in this transaction and I left feeling awesome. Its funny how contagious good deeds are. James is an awesome guy. So next time you see him buy a Cincinnati themed print.
Awesome things do happen, even on cloudy days!

flow - a shop for men

flow - a shop for men has joined forces with Cutman Barber and moved to the old Swartz Barber location at 5 West Pike St. flow has worked miracles with this space, 400sqft according to Jerod Theobald. The space feels way bigger than that with strategic use of windows and mirrors. flow was able to purchase Jack Swartz's old barber chairs and a few other shop things.
Shop for a summer outfit while you wait for a haircut and/or straight razor shave. That's what I'll be doing, why go to Sportclips or one of those other butchers when you go stop in here for the same money?

Parking garages, time consuming and a pain to get into and out of not to mention expensive. Unless you are riding with the Urban Basin Bicycle Club. Parking garages never looked so cool, well they still don't look cool but they are at least bearable when you're on a bike. For some people, downtown people like me, this is the only way you'll ever see the inside of one. But up close and personal, warts and all. And if you're talking warts, you're talking Pogues garage with holes that could almost swallow a bike. The whole thing is MacGrubered together with steel beams and giant bolts all over holding the thing together. They can"t knock Pogue's down fast enough as far as I'm concerned.
UBBC meets on Fountain Square every Tuesday at 6:30pm

The Banks parking garage is the largest parking structure in North America. You'll still hear people complain about parking.

Five Points Alley Biergarten

One of the cool things about Five Points Alley is it is a real world lab for placemaking. The Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation isn't afraid to try new things and the space has undergone a constant evolution since it made its debut a couple years ago. From a fenced in trash strewn dump into a breezy pleasant community space to hang out and enjoy a beer or two with friends. Which brings up the coolest part of the beer popup, the beer! This month's beer provided by Taft's Ale House. The Five Points Alley Biergarten is held the 3rd Sunday of the month and it runs through September so swing by and check it out.
