Hamburgers & Homeruns at Johnny Rockets
Sometimes you go to a restaurant because its shiny and new.
Sometimes you go because everyone thinks its the hippest.
Sometimes you just want to go there to get a cold beer and a burger with no BS.
That place could be Johnny Rockets, if you're headed to see the Reds, they're located just outside GABP on E. Freedom Way Dr.
The Johnny Rockets in The Banks is the only one in the world designed with a sports bar in mind. It wasn't as simple as just adding a bar, they had to remain family friendly and also as appealing as possible for women, having a well lit exterior and two huge booths for parties.
Seems like they did a good job of backing off the fifties diner just enough while adding Cincinnati specific images and balancing a number of large screens for the sports fans before and after games. They have a to go window outside so you can take carry out into the ball park and they also serve breakfast, perfect for a Sunday morning before the afternoon game.
This Johnny Rockets also has two special burgers, the Baker and the Pecko. A portion of the sale of these will go to Dusty and Domata's favorite charities.
Good news for my vegan friends, the Streamliner is a soy burger which I tried, its not bad, its not Waygu beef by any means but then again its not Waygu beef. And any burger on the menu can have a soy burger substitute. Talk to your server, ours was quite knowledgeable on the subject.
Lets be honest, you're not gonna go out of your way to go to Johnny Rockets for the beer, but when you do find yourself there its nice to know there is one local beer you can grab.
I'm not one to get excited about a chain, so I'm glad to see Rick Thompson, the owner/operator went the extra mile to make this a little more Cincy and a little less chainy.
