Final Friday

This past Final Friday was everything it promised to be and more, no way to even take it all in. The night started off at "The Art of Manliness", a P&G workspace that isn't usually open to the public.

Washington Park garage ribbon cutting

OK, a garage isn't glamorous I think we can agree, but given the location of it, it really seems like something more, and it turns out a bunch of people agree.

Washington Park

Willie Carden, the Director of the Cincinnati Park Board, ...its just a garage..but its an example of "parkenomics" using public and private funds to leverage parks for the community.
Washington Park

Milton Dohoney, City Manager stated, "its just a garage.. but its also about creating a sense of space and connecting the arts and entertainment in OTR. The city of Cincinnati continues to be on a roll."

I think maybe everyone felt like me, its just a garage. But things are happening and they're starting to happen fast.
I was surprised to see a good 50+ people there, but then when I noticed the list of donors, both businesses and individuals who've contributed to the park it made sense.
Just wait until the rest of the park opens July 1! As a teaser we got a small look at it also.

It’s now or never and never will be your forever

I don't like to do these event things very often because theres other places you can go that do it much better, but..... seems like every 4 to 6 months OTR does a blowout Final Friday and it looks like this Friday is going to be that Friday.
If you haven't been to one forever or never been to one, this is the one you should hit to see what the hell OTR has been talking about lately.
In addition to all the galleries and retail spaces rolling out the red carpet, these special events are also happening.

Park+Vine

No way is this a complete list, but I guarantee walking from one of these to the next you'll trip into other awesome stuff.

its just like your favorite burrito place, but better

everything you like about burritos but more, and less.

Currito Burrito

I like the fact I can get a burrito that isn't as big as my head and I'm not reduced to crawling out of the place when finished.
Who knew, if you aren't doing a death march through a giant burrito you can actually enjoy eating it.

Yes, finally Currito has moved downtown with their quality ingredients, the burritos here seem to have a few more layers of flavors compared to that place that gives you a burrito big* enough to feed a family of migrant workers for a week.
*you can get a large burrito, but there's also a small option that really isn't that small. Lets call it smaller than the large.

poetic cigar justice

The Party Source Cigar tasting held every Tuesday departed the Beer Sellar for Jefferson Hall in a thick cloud of hazy blue smoke and I was prepared to hate the new location. Usually when you go into something already hating, its hard to be disappointed but surprisingly it was a good move after all, we definitely had more room, weren't cramped or fighting for tables. And my worst fear, that of not having a scenic river view was unfounded, sure we weren't right on the river but the view is every bit as good. the only downside was losing the awesome beer selection the Beer Sellar provided, small consolation that Jefferson Hall offers Bell's and Great Lakes along with all the usual lite and light mega beers.
A relaxed atmosphere, cigar and friends doesn't get much better than.
There were guys there buying 4, 5, 6 or more boxes at a time, you'd think they'd never seen a cigar before.

Smale Riverfront Park

Phase I of the Park Construction is wrapping up in anticipation of the May 18th grand opening.
I thought they weren't going to have the money to operate the the Walnut Street Fountain, but I heard that last year so hopefully that has changed.
The park is A-mazing
